Charlston & Savannah & journey to Panama City

Left Virginia Beach and on to Charlston in South Carolina..

Some of Charlston's Mansions, in the Historic District....

Down by the harbour

Boon Plantation in Savannah..

The house slave quarters.... These were pretty 'grand' in comparison to the wooden shacks for the field hands.....

We did a tour around the house and the lasting impression is the 'shopping list' of the lady of the house, regular shopping ie material, food and "one negro girl" $1,000..................

What is amazing to me is that it such recent history - and this plantation had 3 rows of these slave quarters - you approach the house via an avenue of Live Oaks, then the slave quarters and then the house - this was to show how wealthy they were....

Spanish moss grows all over the trees..

Sea grass baskets - just like Rwanda!! They are made on the streets and sold to tourists

Touristy and silly ... but fun

Didn't know the FBI were in Savannah!!

Lots water and loads of bridges..

River Street in Savannah

Amazing sunset

This is the the sign for Georgia when you cross the state line (Savannah is in Georgia) Very Peachy... looks like a bum to me!!!

Stopped at Jeckle Island it was warm and beautiful - more mossy trees...

Arrived Panama City Beach on the 1st Dec....

Been settling in and COOKING - vegetables, lamb curry, paprika pork, chilli and of course a steak!!

Blog will be a little quieter now as we are just living in the USA...

Be having days out and there will be lots of pics of sunsets!!

ie....

He looks smug!

Aha having a beer on the balcony

First sunset of many - and yes it drops into the sea right in front of us.....

Tonight was magical pods of Dolphins passed - so many of them for about an hour!!! Tried taking pics but too far, too fast and light was fading... memories :)
